  1. The Robin hood Pub & Restaurant in Bangkok is one of my regulars for good English food and beers. The best way to get to the Robin hood Pub is to take the BTS skytrain and beat the traffic. Get off at Phrom Pong station, take exit 5 and go straight at the bottom of the stairs. You can’t miss it. The Robin Hood is a rustic style English tavern nestled in the heart of Sukhumvit. Dressed with wooden floorboards and classic long bar. This split-leveled pub has a warm homely feel and attracts a lively mix of regular international patrons. Pub Opening hours start from 9 am with last orders called at Midnight. Extended hours are offered for certain local and international holidays or special occasions. The Restaurant serves food from 9.00am and will take orders all the way up until 11pm at night The pub has many televisions and 2 giant screens, showing sporting events from around the world such as Premier League Football, Cricket, Rugby, F1, NFL & more. There is live music every Wednesday night & Full English commentary on all the big Sporting Events. The menu features tasty Traditional pub grub as well as an extensive International & Thai Favorites Menu. Also our hearty weekend roasts with a choice of Roast Beef & Yorkshire pudding or Roast Pork with home made Apple sauce and crackling. Robin Hood 597-597/1-3 P.B Building Sukhumvit 33/1, Sukhumvit Road Klongtan Nua, Wattana Bangkok 10110 Tel: +66 2 662 3390 This pub actually has a decent happy hour and also some very good nightly drinks deals which don't just include the usual local brews at some obscure hour which I very much appreciate. Well managed.
  2. The guide to Thonglor Restaurants - What to eat in Thonglor-What to eat in Bangkok? Since Bangkok is known to be the world’s ‘Foodiest country’, you wouldn’t find it so surprising that Thonglor, one of the most developed part of the city, has arguably the best selections of food. You can find anything from local food to Michelin Star restaurants. Got bored of Thai food? No problem. Other than the wide range of pricing, you can get any type of food you can get your hands on. Besides the most authentic Thai food, you can get: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian and the list goes on. The possibilities to fulfill your appetite are endless here in this neighborhood. Since there are hundreds of restaurants out there. Instead of listing all of them and confuse you with an abundance of choices, we decided to pick the select few best Thonglor restaurants based on this pricing criteria: affordable ($), expensive ($$), and very expensive ($$$). So when you find yourself available for lunch or dinner, it won’t be too difficult to ask yourself exactly what to eat in Bangkok. 3. Hemingways has always been one of my favourite bars and restaurants in Bangkok since it started on Sukhumvit Soi 14. Some background on Ernest Hemingway the house they transformed into what Hemingway’s was then and is today. Hemingway’s Bar and Restaurant encourages you to take a step back in time, to an era when what is now concrete was lush verdant fields. This beautiful old house was originally built more than 90 years ago in the early 1920’s using very rare golden teak. The Siamese Ambassador to Laos in the 1930s, the son of King Rama VIII’s Royal Guardian, later acquired the house. It has since been home to several foreign ambassadors to Siam including the French ambassador in the 1940s, who reportedly had stables on the premises. The house was built on the banks of the Prakanong Canal, as this part of the canal resembled the majestic Chaophraya River as it ran through Ayutthaya, Siam’s ancient capital. In those days, the only traffic noises were the paddles of boats against a background of tropical birdsong and the neighing of horses once the French ambassador arrived: a time long, long before Sukhumvit Road was built, when this part of the world was known as the ‘mysterious Far East’. They say nothing lasts forever. But some things last for a very long time, and this house is one of them. Hemingway’s legacy lives through our venue, offering a place fitting every mood, a space for every thought and a flavour to satisfy every taste. We hope you can enjoy it with us every day! The beautiful old golden teak house, which we are proud to call home, was originally built in the 1920‘s and no icon personifies this classic era more than the famous Ernest Hemingway. One of life’s great characters, he travelled to some of the world’s most interesting and exotic places. The mojito-fuelled dance bars of old Havana, the sultry fishing backwaters of Key West Florida and the timeless romantic boulevards of Paris. This living definition of a ‘real man’ ran with the bulls in Pamplona and hunted rhinos on the Serengeti. From being famously wounded in WWI to fighting for democracy in the Spanish Civil War in the 1936, he rarely did any of this without a drink in hand, somehow never spilling a drop. Oh, and he wrote a few books along the way. Ernest Hemingway is one of the greatest storytellers ever published. He was also a rare artist recognized for his inspiring work within his lifetime. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1952 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954, he drew consistently from his own experiences of love, war, wilderness and loss to describe every human experience. The New York Times described his writing style as “lean, hard, athletic narrative prose”, yet displayed subtle depths of humanity, succinctly described. But Hemingway was also much more than that… He was an explorer and an adventurer. He really is one of life’s true great characters! This upstanding gentleman explored the great tastes and flavours the world has to offer: the wines of Spain; the complex Campari-lined cocktails of Italy; the mojitos and daiquiris of Cuba; and the sophisticated martinis of Paris. He was rarely seen without a pint in his hand, or his favourite soft drink – a scotch and soda. Hemingway’s legend lives on, and our Drinking & Dining Bar & Restaurant is dedicated to the places he lived, and the food and drink he so dearly loved. Hemingway’s today offers a place fitting every mood, a space for every thought and a flavor to satisfy every taste. Hemingway’s Sukhumvit 11 Alley, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok, 10110, Thailand. Phone +66 2 653 3900
